HELLO!
I'm Terri Hayes
Brain Trainer, Recovering Perfectionist, Former
People-Pleaser, and Self-Help Guru Who Finally
Figured Out How to Actually Implement It All
My story
For years, I thought I just needed to try harder.
Better routines. Clearer communication. More willpower. If I could just GET IT RIGHT, everything would fall into place.
I consumed every self-help book, listened to every podcast, collected all the tools and strategies. I had the knowledge. What I didn't have was the ability to actually implement any of it in a way that stuck.
Because here's what I didn't understand: The real change didn't come from doing more. It came from thinking differently.
I learned how my brain was running on autopilot—avoiding discomfort, seeking approval, trying to control everything. I was an emotion shunner. Feelings slowed me down, and I had no time for that.
But once I understood that I could TRAIN my brain to work differently—and that emotions were actually the fuel behind everything I did—everything shifted.
I stopped:
Rehashing every interaction, wondering what I did wrong
Carrying burdens that were never mine to carry
People-pleasing my way through life
Beating myself up for not being perfect
Avoiding emotions because they felt like weakness
And I started:
Responding instead of reacting
Setting boundaries without guilt
Making decisions with confidence
Working with my emotions instead of around them
Actually enjoying my life instead of just managing it
That's when I became obsessed with brain training—not as a metaphor, but as a practice. Just like I train my body in the gym to get stronger, I learned to train my brain to think differently.
And now? That's what I help other driven people do.
Why I Do This Work
I'm a certified life coach trained in cognitive behavioral tools and the neuroscience of thought work. But more than that, I'm someone who's lived this transformation—from exhausted overachiever to someone who can actually turn her brain off at night.
I know what it's like to:
Lie awake replaying conversations
Feel guilty for resting
Snap at people you love when you're stretched thin
Know you're capable of more but feel stuck in the same patterns
Have all the self-help knowledge but struggle to actually implement it
And I know what it takes to change it.
Who I Work With
I work with driven people who are tired of running on autopilot.
You might be:
A parent navigating the challenges of raising teens or reconnecting with adult children
A professional who can't shut your brain off after work
Someone who gets things done but exhausts yourself in the process
A high achiever who's ready to stop people-pleasing and start living intentionally
Someone who's read all the books and listened to all the podcasts but still can't seem to make the changes stick
You don't need to be fixed. You just need to train your brain to work FOR you instead of against you.
Here's what most driven, analytical people don't realize:
Your brain isn't the only thing doing the thinking.
Your body holds wisdom your mind can't access—gut instincts, heart-centered knowing, the signals you've been trained to override in the name of logic and productivity.
Part of brain training is learning to listen to ALL of you—not just the cognitive part that's been running the show.
This isn't woo-woo. It's neuroscience. And it's how you start making decisions that feel aligned instead of just logically "correct."
Ready to Start?"
If you're ready to stop reacting and start responding, to trade exhaustion for energy, and to finally enjoy the life you're working so hard to build—let's talk.
